Kushal Desai is a prominent Indian businessman and industrialist, widely recognized as the Chairman and Managing Director of APAR Industries Ltd. He holds impressive academic credentials, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the Moore School of Electrical Engineering and a Business degree from the Wharton School, both part of the University of Pennsylvania. His career in APAR Industries began in 2004, and he steadily rose through the ranks, becoming Managing Director and CEO in 2015 and then Chairman in 2016. Under his leadership, APAR Industries, a company founded by his late father Dharamsinh Desai in 1958, has expanded significantly, becoming a global manufacturer of conductors, electrical cables, speciality oils, polymers, and lubricants.
Beyond his corporate responsibilities, Kushal Desai is actively involved in various educational and charitable initiatives, continuing a family tradition of philanthropy. He serves on the Board of Governors for Dharmsinh Desai University and the DDMM Heart Hospital, both institutions established by his family in Gujarat, India. Additionally, he is a trustee of The Lady Northcote Hindu Orphanage and acts as an advisor to the Annamrita Midday Meal Program, a non-profit that provides meals to schoolchildren across India. His contributions extend to industry bodies like ELCOMA and IEEMA, where he has held various capacities, showcasing his commitment to the broader industrial landscape.
Mr. Chaitanya Desai is the Managing Director of APAR Industries Limited, the world’s largest manufacturer of aluminum and alloy conductors, supplying critical infrastructure to the global energy, transportation, and telecommunications sectors. Under his leadership, APAR has expanded its footprint to over 140 countries and scaled to a market capitalisation of USD 4.2 billion, with annual revenues reaching USD 2 billion. Mr. Desai holds dual Bachelor of Science (Hons.) degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, USA—one in Chemical Engineering and the other in Economics from The Wharton School. He joined APAR in 1993 and has since played a pivotal role in driving the company’s growth and diversification.
